Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Crisp macro images!
This lens is all I anticipated. Images are sharp and I love using it for focus stacking. Before buying I had borrowed a Nikon 105mm micro/macro, a Laowa 90mm macro, and this same model Irix. The borrowed Irix produced visibly crisper images, and this one that I just purchased does the same - excellent quality images.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Excellent with Qualifiers
Backgorund- Over the years I have used a variety of macro lenses. My favorites have been the Nikon 200 f and most recently, the Sigma 150 2.8. I like shooting with the 150-200 range and find that having a tripod collar is very useful in helping get the right angle for the shot. The Sigma was an older version which would not work with the Z series so I bought the Irix as its replacement. My impressions of this lens: Case- Excellent semi rigid Image quality- Outstanding Ergonomics- very good Works very well with z series- focus peaking is spot on. Overall- Great lens- Exceptional value for the $$ The qualifiers: The tripod collar is not smooth. I have to fiddle with it in order the change the orientation. On a z7, this lens is very front heavy and uncomfortable to use hand held. Not an issue for my style (always on a tripod) but this may be an issue for those who plan to use it as a portrait lens.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Great addition to my kit!
I had the critically-acclaimed Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 VC USD lens; was never all that thrilled with it. I even had it get internal debris TWICE, though Tamron removed debris both times without hassle and at no cost to me. But once I got my Nikon Z7 I found the Tamron caused the Z7 to do weird things (such as a bunch of weird clunking sounds in the Z7 each time I turned it on with the Tamron 90 mounted). So when I learned of this Irix 150 I decided to try it. I am SO glad I did. I have now sold the Tamron with no regrets. I have not yet used the Irix much at all, but on its maiden voyage (into sub-freezing weather, with my fingers [and brain] moving slowly) it was super easy to use and seems to give superb results. I especially appreciate that the collar has an Arca-swiss compatible foot; fits on my RRS BH-40 ball head & clamp perfectly. Last note: the manual focusing turns through 270 degrees, and is extremely smooth; it is precisely what I want and need in a lens like this. I am very happy to add this lens to my kit!

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Irix 150 2.8 macro
Well constructed with excellent resolution. Has manual focus but auto aperture. The tripod mount of the lens is a great help with macro shots. The focusing is smooth with plenty of turning radius. The only drawback for me is that with the lens attached to my Canon 80D the battery depletes rapidly even if the camera is turned off.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Had this lens for a few months
I bought this lens a few months ago. I have been using it for some nature photography and it is a very nice lens. Very sharp. I'm a little spoiled and do miss the autofocus but this makes me set up the picture more carefully so I like it. Very sharp images.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Best lens for the dollar available
I ordered this lens because I wanted to be further away from my subject than was possible with my Nikon 105mm f/2.8 AFS micro. I received this lens in mid december 2018. The packaging was fantastic, it arrived in a sealed box, and come with a semi-hard fitted zippered case which was another unexpected surprise. The lens came with front and rear covers, the rear cover has been put away and replaced by a Nikon one as it was loose fitting and I didnt want to lose it. The hood fit well with a reassuring click Removing the hood however is easy with the lens facing away from you and grasping it with your right hand on the top, other positions may frustrate you as the hood doesnt seem to want to come off otherwise. Quality exudes from this lens, the finish and markings are flawless, the focus is smooth and the focus lock is a nice added bonus as is the tripod collar that locks perfectly on my Really Right Stuff ball head. The image quality is as expected, I can find no flare in my images even when shooting into the sun. Macro images are tack sharp and I noticed no chromatic aberrations. Attached are some samples of some flowers that were in the house over the holidays.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Outstanding lens
This is a very sharp, very contrasty lens that is adaptable to both macro work and portraiture (although it cuts rather hard for portraits). The attached photo of the elderly man in the World War II hat (my dear father-in-law) was shot at f/5.6, and the photo of the poinsettia was shot at f/32.0.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Longest macro lens I know of
There may be a Nikon 200mm macro lens, but it has got to be expensive; this one is very sharp and priced so right! It is not just a great value for the price. It is a terrific lens priced beautifully. The beauty of a longer focal length macro is that you don't have to get nearly as close to your subject as you would with a 35-50mm macro, or a normal lens with extension tubes. I returned a Tamron macro lens that would not work with my Z6, and then bought this. I use it with my FTZ adapter. A keeper.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Love it!!!

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Outstanding value
I purchased one of Irix first 15mm lenses several years ago and ended up returning it due to a manufacturing defect. So I was skeptical of their recent offers. I decided to try the 150mm Macro (EF mount) and am very impressed. Construction is top notch. Image quality is superb. The reach of 150mm is much easier to use for small subjects versus the typical 100mm offerings. It works perfectly via adapter with the R5 and R6. My only criticism is that the throw of the focus ring is actually shorter than I'd prefer. For macro work I'd rather have a super long throw focus ring so I can make tiny adjustment more easily. The throw on this lens is such that it is difficult to dial in absolute perfect focus. My R5/R6 manual focus indicators work with this lens but it can be challenging to actually align the little arrows (R5/R6 users understand what I'm referring to). Maybe my fingers aren't delicate enough. Overall I recommend this lens to any macro shooters.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Sharp, Rock-solid, Beautiful
I highly recommend this lens for anyone interested in macro photography. It's sharp, easy to use, and very well constructed -- not to mention beautiful. It *can* also be used for portraits, but bear in mind it's manual-focus-only with a very narrow depth of field. A bit heavy for handheld shots, but no more so than other lenses in its class.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: A. Beautiful lens for Macro lovers
One of the best lenses on the market for Macro lovers. It's well built and does the job.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Excellent Lens
My first adventure into macro photography. I really love the lens. Here are some of my shots for my first time out in macro photography with the IRIX 150 mm macro lens.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Great lens
I have had this lens for 7 months and found it to be my best lens for both macro and some landscape photos. It is also exception for portraits.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Tack Sharp
And much lighter than a Canon 100mm macro. The extra 50mm is ideal for macro work. The lack of stabilization is a non-issue as macro work always requires a tripod. Well-constructed and seemingly durable at a very good price. Recommended.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: It was great until it wasn’t
With quarantine, have been using my Irix for indoor tripod shots of flowers, etc. Beautiful lens. Sturdily built. Easy enough to focus with my Nikon D850. However, and I’ve never had this happen to a lens, the Irixs iris or whatever mechanism that controls the iris has been freezing up - making a terrible sound and over exposing shots. Pretty much shot. I’ve had it for only a year. It has a 2 year warranty - I will check in with B&H on a workday to find out what I can do. Not happy.
Coincidentally, I am awaiting a autofocus 90mm macro from B&H for other work.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Love it!
I had been wanting to get this lens for a long time. I decided to reward myself and go ahead and order it. This is my first IRIX lens. The packaging from IRIX is fantastic. It made it feel like my lens was gift wrapped. I have taken it out 2 times already and love how the images turn out. I can't wait to see how the rest of my spring time photos turn out!

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Exceptional clarity.
I discovered news of this lens as reference from an online photography course. So glad I tracked down a means of supply, B&H. From there to Australia I watched if travel, then, the postal systen surpassed normal expectations and delivery was 4 days early. Our wet season has hindered chances of continuel use, but what I have taken amazes my friends from the photo club and followers on facebook. So easy to use and my focus by using the screen even easier, on a tripod of cohrse. Though I did capture a startling photo of a blue ringed bee in flight handheld which won me great many WOWS on facebook. Not afraid to use the lens in this current weather though naturally I keep it dry, but without a motor inside for auto focus its not creating friction warmth from inside, is my theory. I look forward to sunny times and more great photos.

Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Excellent Macro Lens
I use the IRIX 150mm f/2.8 Macro lens on a Nikon D850. The lens is solidly-built, but not very heavy. Since I shoot my macro either on a tripod, a focusing rail or with flash, the lack of image stabilization is never a factor. Additionally, macro is best done with manual focus, so the lack of auto focus is not an issue. The focusing ring is large, smooth and very easy to use at macro/close-up distances. Toward infinity, the range of movement is more limited and it takes some patience to get sharp focus. I have used this lens also for tracked astrophotography with good results, but is best stopped down to f/5 because of some coma at the edges of the full frame. For regular use this lens appears sharpest at f/11, then f/16, then f/4. I have noticed no chromatic aberration. The bokeh is excellent. The tripod collar is handy and works well. So far, I have found little need for the focus lock function and have noticed no evidence of a focus shift with the lens pointed downward when focus stacking. Metering and aperture control in camera works fine. As for the most important aspect, how do the pictures look? The images have been very sharp with good detail, contrast and color all across the frame. I am very satisfied with this lens as well as the excellent and prompt service by B&H. If I were to compare it with another one of my macro lenses I would sat that the images are sharper with this IRIX lens than with my older Nikon 200mm macro lens. This lens is designed for macro as close as 1:1 and it certainly performs as promised.
