Ready When you are
Weather-Sealed

Whether you're traversing the hot sands of the Sahara or covering the vast expanse of Antarctica – this lens will endure any challenge.
The sealing system has been designed to protect the inside of the lens from moisture, dust, and sand. The lens is equipped with an internal focusing system, meaning it does not change its physical size during focusing.
The whole body remains solid, sturdy, and ready to operate in all conditions.

Extremely sharp
Optics that Guarantee Sharp Images

Thanks to many years of experience in designing optics, the Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 was meticulously engineered for incredible sharpness. The optical design produces an extremely sharp image at f/2.8. The use of 11 rounded aperture blades not only creates an extremely smooth and soft bokeh, but also minimizes diffraction (decrease in resolution associated with stopping down the aperture). With further stopping down, the image sharpness also improves, which is crucial in macro photography where you are often forced to use small aperture values to obtain a sufficiently large depth of field.

Semi-Automatic Modes

The Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 has a module allowing you to control the lens' iris directly from the camera. This means popular semi-automatic modes (PASM), and data recording in EXIF format are available.
The use of electronics also enables the lens to be equipped with a focus confirmation system – the camera will confirm the proper focus distance (either in the form of an icon in the viewfinder or sound), every time you set the focus correctly – it’s really easy!

Lock it in place
Focus Lock Ring

The Focus Lock Ring on the Irix lenses allows you to lock the focus ring in a specific position. This is extremely beneficial when you want to be sure you set the correct magnification ratio, e.g. 1: 1 while shooting.

Keep it stable
Tripod Clamp

Macro photography requires extraordinary precision and stabilization. Thanks to the tripod clamp (standard Arca-Swiss), you can safely and securely attach your camera to the lens. This will make sure the center of gravity of the camera lens remains neutral, and the vibrations associated with focusing and operating the camera are minimized.

precise focusing
Ergonomic Focus Ring

When shooting small subjects, the depth of field is usually only a few millimeters or less, so precise focusing is extremely important. The rotation angle of the focus ring on the Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 is 270 degrees, giving you an extremely smooth and precise focus.
After tireless testing, we have developed a focus ring that is characterized by its high mechanical strength and resistance to adverse conditions. It has a dedicated embossing allowing you to feel the position of the ring, making focusing even easier.

Jonathan - Irix 150mm macro It was great until it wasn’t
4 out of 5 stars
With quarantine, have been using my Irix for indoor tripod shots of flowers, etc. Beautiful lens. Sturdily built. Easy enough to focus with my Nikon D850. However, and I’ve never had this happen to a lens, the Irixs iris or whatever mechanism that controls the iris has been freezing up - making a terrible sound and over exposing shots. Pretty much shot. I’ve had it for only a year. It has a 2 year warranty - I will check in with B&H on a workday to find out what I can do. Not happy. Coincidentally, I am awaiting a autofocus 90mm macro from B&H for other work.
Louis - Irix 150mm macro Like Butter!

Okay so I took my new toy to Costa Rica for two weeks just after receiving it, thinking that I might use it 50% of the time at best. Well as it turns out, I took roughly 90% of my shots with that lens mounted on my Pentax K70 and the performance was stellar. Smooth focus ring, fast enough for the dark rainforest, sharp as a tack and buttery smooth bokeh. A wide angle IRIX lens is next.

Very happy with this impressive, well-built, sturdy macro-lens. The packaging is nothing less than luxurious. I like the tripod support which is something valuable. I don't care that it is not an auto-focusing lens, for who really uses the autofocus in macrophotography, anyway? Focusing is precise and the images very sharp, indeed. It is a great value for its price and its rendition.

I got this because I am kind of tired of using extension tubes. 150mm is a good focal length and f/2.8 lets in a lot of light. It is manual focus, which makes shooting handheld a bit difficult as the focus depth is very shallow when close up to a subject. This will be much better with a tripod and focus stacking. It arrived from Adorama as promised in good packaging. The lens and accessories were in good shape. There is currently not a lightroom correction profile for this lens,

Will F. - Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro Sharp, Rock-solid, Beautiful
5 out of 5 stars
I highly recommend this lens for anyone interested in macro photography. It's sharp, easy to use, and very well constructed -- not to mention beautiful. It *can* also be used for portraits, but bear in mind it's manual-focus-only with a very narrow depth of field. A bit heavy for handheld shots, but no more so than other lenses in its class.

Well constructed with excellent resolution. Has manual focus but auto aperture. The tripod mount of the lens is a great help with macro shots. The focusing is smooth with plenty of turning radius. The only drawback for me is that with the lens attached to my Canon 80D the battery depletes rapidly even if the camera is turned off.

I bought this lens a few months ago. I have been using it for some nature photography and it is a very nice lens. Very sharp. I'm a little spoiled and do miss the autofocus but this makes me set up the picture more carefully so I like it. Very sharp images.

Wonderful as both a macro and a telephoto. As a macro, the stand off distance is helpful in getting light to the subject.

Extreme sharpness, pleasing bokeh monster. I could take a picture in a junkyard and it wouldnt matter due to how the lens blurs out the background. In the Blue Jay pic you can see snow particles and whiskers on the beak. Pic was captured at 1/2000. If the lens can render this well with fast moving subjects, still subjects should be a delight.

The tripod collar is very stable and sturdy+ Very smooth focus ring+ works well with electronic adapter on Sony a7III+ Beautiful bokeh- pretty heavy to carry around- good for studio work. Fr. James Riley Kurzynski - Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro This Is My New "Go-To" Lens.
5 out of 5 stars
I couldn't be more pleased with the Irix 150mm 2.8 macro. As someone who uses manual focus lenses for astrophotography, to have a lens that has this high of image quality, both in the macro world and in the non-macro world, is a true gift. I recently took this lens adapted to my Canon RP to the Desert Museum in Tucson, Arizona and came away with stunning images of everything from hawks, to hummingbirds, and macro images of flowers. The only "down sides" of the lens are the obvious. As a manual focus lens it lacks auto focus.. A smaller problem, but slightly annoying is that the lens hood sticks from time to time. I knew about the lens hood problem before buying this, so I've just tried to do the recommended fix of grabbing the hood by the white stripe that indicates the locked position - still sticks occasionally, but if you are gentle it will turn after a couple tries. The lack of autofocus comes down to patience. If you are someone whose definition of "running and gunning" with a camera includes a quick capture and go, this is not the lens for you. If you have the patience to slow down your image taking process and use manual focus guides, then this is your macro lens! I actually have come to appreciate the slower pace of image capture. It develops a tangible, unspoken relationship with your subject as you are capturing images. Highly recommend this lens! Read more

David Forgang - Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro Just a wonderful lens to play with.
5 out of 5 stars
I have been using now for a week on my sony a7ii with a commulite adaptor.... Everything has been working perfectly and i have had no loud noises like a few others have experienced.. Only noise i had was the focusing ring was making a slight noise the first couple times i used it. That has since disappeared. I bought this for hiking as i felt the sony 90mm was just not a long enought reach for most critters i find... I have not taken it hiking yet but have been using outside handheld and inside my home studio on a tripod. On a sunny day handheld i was able to shoot at f16 iso 400 at 1/500th and get tack sharp beautiful images of flowers. The manual throw on this thing is so wide and i love that. Paired with the focus peaking sony has its makes nailing focus so smooth. The packaging was surprisingly nicer then how most my sony lens arrived. It has a nice feel to it and is very comfortable in my hands. My only complaint so far is they dont make a native e-mount lens.. I want to try there 15mm for Astro but won't untill they do release a sony version hopefully.Update: I have used this lens now in the field now on many hikes... The only complaint is the grip on the focus ring slides very easily and covers the macro 1:1 ratio numbers... It's not a huge deal as you just push it back down; but as I hike through out the morning for a bout 6 hours I have to do this about 10 times so it can be annoying... does not affect the lens or anything to Do with how wonderful this lens is to use. Also the focus ring does not make the noise i was getting week one.. I figured that would go away after a few days use. If you are using this lens in the field you may want to use a tripod or mono pod.. It's heavy after a few hours of hiking... you do not have to as i do not. All my work is handheld but i am sore after a full day of holding it.. I still love this lens and It has yet to come off my sony camera... Read more

The 150mm allows 1:1(or 2:1) with the TC, to be pretty far away from bugs. The Sharpness is terrific. Used with the manual helps in a mirrorless camera, its easy to get a sharp image in manual.

Fred - Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro Excellent Macro Lens
5 out of 5 stars
I use the IRIX 150mm f/2.8 Macro lens on a Nikon D850. The lens is solidly-built, but not very heavy. Since I shoot my macro either on a tripod, a focusing rail or with flash, the lack of image stabilization is never a factor. Additionally, macro is best done with manual focus, so the lack of auto focus is not an issue. The focusing ring is large, smooth and very easy to use at macro/close-up distances. Toward infinity, the range of movement is more limited and it takes some patience to get sharp focus. I have used this lens also for tracked astrophotography with good results, but is best stopped down to f/5 because of some coma at the edges of the full frame. For regular use this lens appears sharpest at f/11, then f/16, then f/4. I have noticed no chromatic aberration. The bokeh is excellent. The tripod collar is handy and works well. So far, I have found little need for the focus lock function and have noticed no evidence of a focus shift with the lens pointed downward when focus stacking. Metering and aperture control in camera works fine. As for the most important aspect, how do the pictures look? The images have been very sharp with good detail, contrast and color all across the frame. I am very satisfied with this lens as well as the excellent and prompt service by B&H. If I were to compare it with another one of my macro lenses I would sat that the images are sharper with this IRIX lens than with my older Nikon 200mm macro lens. This lens is designed for macro as close as 1:1 and it certainly performs as promised.

I had been wanting to get this lens for a long time. I decided to reward myself and go ahead and order it. This is my first IRIX lens. The packaging from IRIX is fantastic. It made it feel like my lens was gift wrapped. I have taken it out 2 times already and love how the images turn out. I can't wait to see how the rest of my spring time photos turn out!

This is a very sharp, very contrasty lens that is adaptable to both macro work and portraiture (although it cuts rather hard for portraits). The attached photo of the elderly man in the World War II hat (my dear father-in-law) was shot at f/5.6, and the photo of the poinsettia was shot at f/32.0.

Florian - Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro My first macro lens, used for more than macro photography
5 out of 5 stars
I am new to photography, and I am not very good at it. However, I am interested with a niche related subject: astrophotography. With the equipment I have I can do both widefield and very narrow shots of the night sky, and I wanted something in between that I could also use on a day-to-day basis. This was the winner from all my options. Opening the box, the build and materials quality is above my expectations. As far as macros go, I still have lots to learn. The main reason I bought this lens for is astrophotography, and doing this it really shines. Shooting wide open the distortions are minimal, but stopping down to f/4 there is no noticeable fringing or coma, and the vignetting is manageable. Manual focus is not something that bothers me, but the extremely shallow depth of field did surprise me, so it took me some time to get used to it. All-in-all, for my experience level and the applications I use this lens in, it really provides more than I know what to do with.
Jeff - Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro Outstanding value
4 out of 5 stars
I purchased one of Irix first 15mm lenses several years ago and ended up returning it due to a manufacturing defect. So I was skeptical of their recent offers. I decided to try the 150mm Macro (EF mount) and am very impressed. Construction is top notch. Image quality is superb. The reach of 150mm is much easier to use for small subjects versus the typical 100mm offerings. It works perfectly via adapter with the R5 and R6. My only criticism is that the throw of the focus ring is actually shorter than I'd prefer. For macro work I'd rather have a super long throw focus ring so I can make tiny adjustment more easily. The throw on this lens is such that it is difficult to dial in absolute perfect focus. My R5/R6 manual focus indicators work with this lens but it can be challenging to actually align the little arrows (R5/R6 users understand what I'm referring to). Maybe my fingers aren't delicate enough. Overall I recommend this lens to any macro shooters.

Backgorund- Over the years I have used a variety of macro lenses. My favorites have been the Nikon 200 f and most recently, the Sigma 150 2.8. I like shooting with the 150-200 range and find that having a tripod collar is very useful in helping get the right angle for the shot. The Sigma was an older version which would not work with the Z series so I bought the Irix as its replacement. My impressions of this lens: Case- Excellent semi rigid Image quality- Outstanding Ergonomics- very good Works very well with z series- focus peaking is spot on. Overall- Great lens- Exceptional value for the $$ The qualifiers: The tripod collar is not smooth. I have to fiddle with it in order the change the orientation. On a z7, this lens is very front heavy and uncomfortable to use hand held. Not an issue for my style (always on a tripod) but this may be an issue for those who plan to use it as a portrait lens.

The versatility of this lens is amazing. I love it. Only minor 'issue' is the weight but the photos make it more than worth it. I've taken some of my best photos with it. Bit of learning curve since there's no auto focus but absolutely positively worth every penny. My son that loves to photograph wildlife was never into macro and he as blown away by this lens. I had to force him to try it but he was hooked. I think I might have to get him his own!! Love this lens. 100%.

I was previously using an auto focus lens before I purchased this but that was damaged in an accident so I decided to replace it with this model. I wasn't sure how I would like manual focus but its actually a lot better than the auto focus. I would spend a minute hunting for a focal point and by that time my subject would have move, not to mention the lens was noisy. With the Irix I just attach it to a monopod and bring it into focus much quicker. It also works a lot better in low light than my previous lens.
