Jonathan Sony Alpha 7 Lenses Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: It was great until it wasn’t
4 out of 5 stars
With quarantine, have been using my Irix for indoor tripod shots of flowers, etc. Beautiful lens. Sturdily built. Easy enough to focus with my Nikon D850. However, and I’ve never had this happen to a lens, the Irixs iris or whatever mechanism that controls the iris has been freezing up - making a terrible sound and over exposing shots. Pretty much shot. I’ve had it for only a year. It has a 2 year warranty - I will check in with B&H on a workday to find out what I can do. Not happy. Coincidentally, I am awaiting a autofocus 90mm macro from B&H for other work.

I needed a lightweight, cinema style macro lens for my motion control rig. This works perfectly. At the right price. Very happy

The image shows a close up of a Lego set using the IRIX 150mm lens. In that picture you can see the small rigs in the gray plastic that is not visible by just looking at it.

Bruce Sony Alpha 7 Still Lenses Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: A+ for Macro Work
5 out of 5 stars
This is my 2nd Irix lens. I bought this one to supplement my Micro-Nikkor 55/2.8 AiS and give me a longer working distance at 1:1. This old lens is ideal for slide copying with the Nikon ES-1 adapter and PK-13 extension tube. I work on a tripod and stack multiple images with a focusing rail. The longer working distance is better for stacking. I much prefer the manual focus lens and appreciate the generous 270-degree focus ring movement in the macro range. I also appreciate the deep lens hood and removable Arca-Swiss standard tripod foot. The Irix is big, hefty and oozes a feel of quality. I have no use for the Irix at portrait distances, as I have a Sigma 135mm ART for this purpose.

I.Q. is sharp, but lens is heavy. You'll need a tripod, esp for macro shot. Lens is very good quality.
Matthew Sony Alpha 7 Still Lenses Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): gorgeous Macro upgrade
5 out of 5 stars
Switching to the IRIX 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 Cine Lens from the Canon 100mm macro photo lens significantly enhanced my macro videography capabilities. The added 50mm focal length allows for closer, more detailed shots and a comfortable working distance, ideal for intricate scenes. This lens incorporates cinema-grade features, including a T3.0 aperture for superb performance in various lighting conditions, and precise control over focus and aperture, elevating the cinematic quality of your footage. The lens's build is both durable and weather-sealed, ready for any shooting environment. Its sharpness is a standout feature, delivering crystal-clear images that showcase the finest details of your subject. This sharpness, alongside the extended focal length and cinema functionality, makes the IRIX 150mm a significant upgrade for filmmakers seeking to advance their macro cinematography. It's a powerful tool that combines creativity, control, and quality, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to step up their macro video production.

I had been wanting to get this lens for a long time. I decided to reward myself and go ahead and order it. This is my first IRIX lens. The packaging from IRIX is fantastic. It made it feel like my lens was gift wrapped. I have taken it out 2 times already and love how the images turn out. I can't wait to see how the rest of my spring time photos turn out!

Jorge Sony Alpha 7 Still Lenses Irix Cine 45mm T1.5 (Feet): Solid; sharp; and affordable!!
5 out of 5 stars
I've been renting cine lenses for years for some of our bigger projects but never pulled the trigger on getting one. I mean, I have the Sigma 18-35 Art (photo) lens and I just can't justify spending 4K on the cine version. But this lens comes at a great price (paid $1,200) which in early 2020, happens to be cheaper than the Xeen primes. Not to mention Canon, Sigma, Zeiss CPs and the rest. -- I've shot a few test shots and the 45 looks very sharp and smooth with no noticeable CA. Focus throw is 180 and the overall feel is solid! - Can't wait for Irix to come out with a couple of more primes.

Neill Sony Alpha 7 Still Lenses Irix Cine 21mm T1.5 (Feet): Our preferred lens series
5 out of 5 stars
In over 40 years of industrial and feature film making, the Irix primes are my favorite series of prime lenses, favored over the big name lenses that cost 4-5x. They are fast, sharp, have very natural-looking out-of-focus highlights, and the sealing is a bonus for those like us, who shoot a lot of exteriors. Hopefully Irix will soon offer something in the 65mm-85mm range so we can relegate our current short telephoto to the B camera lens set.
Brian Sony Alpha 7 Still Lenses Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Longest macro lens I know of
5 out of 5 stars
There may be a Nikon 200mm macro lens, but it has got to be expensive; this one is very sharp and priced so right! It is not just a great value for the price. It is a terrific lens priced beautifully. The beauty of a longer focal length macro is that you don't have to get nearly as close to your subject as you would with a 35-50mm macro, or a normal lens with extension tubes. I returned a Tamron macro lens that would not work with my Z6, and then bought this. I use it with my FTZ adapter. A keeper.

It never stoped to amaze me the kind of build this lens has. Nice big and a little on the heavy size. I will compromise well build for fragility, I may also add this has a very nice glass. Overall very satisfied with the lens.
Normand Sony Alpha 7 Still Lenses Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: As advertised !

+ : Very sharp pictures, love the focus ring, no noise in the lens, the lens sun cap is now flat. Great for macro. Works great with extension tube (20mm)(11 inches). With a DX Nikon it becomes 225mm. Great price. - : VR would be great...A little heavy. Solid but not like a Nikon.

DETELN Sony Alpha 7 Still Lenses Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): Great lens.
5 out of 5 stars
I got this lens for high end table top shoots and am very pleased with the quality and the build of the lens. Something I wold normally expect from significantly more expensive cine-macro lenses. It's a bargen at that price point. The PL mount is a snug fit on my RED DRAGON and the rounded lens cap is a bit of a fail design since you can't put the lens on its front the way you normally park lens that you don't want to roll of your desk. But that's the only downside of it and it didn't affect the image waltet in any way.
Desmond Sony Alpha 7 Still Lenses Irix 150mm f/2.8 Dragonfly Macro 1:1: Exceptional clarity.

I discovered news of this lens as reference from an online photography course. So glad I tracked down a means of supply, B&H. From there to Australia I watched if travel, then, the postal systen surpassed normal expectations and delivery was 4 days early. Our wet season has hindered chances of continuel use, but what I have taken amazes my friends from the photo club and followers on facebook. So easy to use and my focus by using the screen even easier, on a tripod of cohrse. Though I did capture a startling photo of a blue ringed bee in flight handheld which won me great many WOWS on facebook. Not afraid to use the lens in this current weather though naturally I keep it dry, but without a motor inside for auto focus its not creating friction warmth from inside, is my theory. I look forward to sunny times and more great photos.
