Cine lenses are a type of lens designed explicitly for videography and filmmaking. While they can also be used for photography, they are not as commonly used for this purpose. Cinema lenses are distinguished from regular camera lenses by their construction and features. They typically have a longer focus throw, which allows for more precise focusing, and a de-clicked aperture, which enables smoother transitions between different aperture settings. A Cine lens also typically have a more robust build quality, making them better suited for heavy use. The IRIX 150mm is an excellent choice for those looking to capture highly detailed, true-to-life close-ups. Its magnification ratio means you can get incredibly close to your subjects, rendering them in life-size on the screen, which is perfect for both professional and creative projects. The T3.0 aperture ensures that you have flexibility with light, working well in both bright outdoor settings and more controlled indoor environments. This lens is built to last, with a robust, weather-sealed construction that can handle a variety of shooting conditions without breaking a sweat. The focus and aperture adjustments are smooth and precise, which is crucial for making those critical, on-the-fly changes during a shoot. Image quality is where this lens truly shines, delivering sharp, clear visuals with beautiful background blur that helps your subject stand out. It's equipped with features like geared rings that are compatible with follow-focus systems, making it an excellent fit for professional video production. While it's a bit heavier and requires manual focus, the quality and versatility it offers make it a worthy addition to your kit. Overall, the IRIX is a solid investment for filmmakers and videographers seeking exceptional detail and build quality in their work.

What more could you ask for in a lens. I was very skeptical at first as I work in film production and we rent lenses all the time. I wanted something that I could use for my red that could live on the camera for run and gun doc work. This lens has blown me away in the short two days I've used it. It is very sharp and has this unique look to that reminds me of having a pro mist filter on it. The build is heavy and strong and feels like a mini tank. I've gambled with lenses for 5 years and am very happy with this purchase. I will be buying more. Thanks Irix!!!!!!! You guys rule.
Carlos Freefly Wave Lens Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): Beautiful lens that produces great images.

I shoot surgical/medical and thus needed that reach (compared to the Rokinon 100mm macro I was using before) in order to remain non-invasive to a health care professional's space. I also wanted a cine version of a macro so this was perfect and really there is no other option other than another 100mm macro cine lens. The images coming from my Fuji X-T3 with this lens are fantastic (rigged as shown using an EF to X-mount adapter). Feels like a solid lens. Not a fan of the magnetic hood but I use a matte box so no biggie. Lens cap and mount cover do suck, they feel like they could break from a drop. Focus ring is smooth but the iris ring is much looser in comparison, I wish they had the same tension.

Neill Freefly Wave Lens Irix Cine 21mm T1.5 (Feet): Our preferred lens series
5 out of 5 stars
In over 40 years of industrial and feature film making, the Irix primes are my favorite series of prime lenses, favored over the big name lenses that cost 4-5x. They are fast, sharp, have very natural-looking out-of-focus highlights, and the sealing is a bonus for those like us, who shoot a lot of exteriors. Hopefully Irix will soon offer something in the 65mm-85mm range so we can relegate our current short telephoto to the B camera lens set.

I've used this lens with my Sony A7S3 for only a couple weeks. I'm not a pro by any means but I've been shooting video for about 5 years. I've been using mostly Sony still camera lenses and their power zoom G kit lenses 18-104mm f4 and 28-135 F4. I like the power zoom but neither of these lenses are actually parfocal and they are not that sharp and prone to focus hunting. I got the IRIX as my first affordable cine lens. I like it for focus pulls which aren't easy or fun using autofocus lenses. The IRIX is sharp and the video looks professional when I'm doing my job behind the camera.

Great neutral image which allows you to create the look that you want. Would like for Irix to fill out their set though. They have a limited selection of cinema glass. What a shame.

Michael Freefly Wave Lens Irix Cine 15mm T2.6 (Feet): IRIX 15mm
5 out of 5 stars
I use this coupled with my BMPCC 6K Pro. Like most cinema lenses, this is massive. Be prepared for a workout if you are going handheld. Gearing is very smooth, although a bit stiff if not using a focus wheel. I own all of the cinema lenses and two of the three have decent magnetic hoods, while one does not appear to be as strong. This doesn't affect me as I utilize a matte box. Like most have stated, the lense cover is complete garbage. Pops off for no apparent reason.
Matthew Freefly Wave Lens Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): gorgeous Macro upgrade
5 out of 5 stars
Switching to the IRIX 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 Cine Lens from the Canon 100mm macro photo lens significantly enhanced my macro videography capabilities. The added 50mm focal length allows for closer, more detailed shots and a comfortable working distance, ideal for intricate scenes. This lens incorporates cinema-grade features, including a T3.0 aperture for superb performance in various lighting conditions, and precise control over focus and aperture, elevating the cinematic quality of your footage. The lens's build is both durable and weather-sealed, ready for any shooting environment. Its sharpness is a standout feature, delivering crystal-clear images that showcase the finest details of your subject. This sharpness, alongside the extended focal length and cinema functionality, makes the IRIX 150mm a significant upgrade for filmmakers seeking to advance their macro cinematography. It's a powerful tool that combines creativity, control, and quality, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to step up their macro video production.

Excellent affordable cine lens that I?m using on a full frame beast of a camera! Sigma fp!!
Matthew Freefly Wave Lens Irix Cine 15mm T2.6 (Feet): car interior beast!
5 out of 5 stars
The IRIX 15mm T2.6 Cine is my go-to for shooting in tight spaces, like car interiors. Its wide-angle capability allows for capturing extensive detail in confined areas, making it ideal for automotive shoots. The T2.6 aperture ensures excellent performance in low-light conditions, crucial for maintaining quality inside vehicles. Balancing impressively on gimbal rigs, it proves to be a versatile workhorse, capable of handling dynamic shots with stability and clarity. Its durable build adds to its reliability, making it a trustworthy choice for demanding environments. In short, the IRIX 15mm T2.6 combines wide-angle versatility, low-light proficiency, and rugged durability, standing out as an essential lens for producing high-quality, creative shots in limited spaces. It’s a valuable asset for any video project requiring sharp and expansive visuals in compact settings.
Lester Freefly Wave Lens Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): Great image for detail shots
5 out of 5 stars
Excellent for detail shots. It works as a telephoto lens but focus pull is way to fine beyond a couple of feet away from subject to really rack focus, so I would not recommend using this as a telephoto unless you can fix focus. No complaints as a macro lens though.

Grant Freefly Wave Lens Irix Cine 15mm T2.6 (Feet): Cute little nugget
5 out of 5 stars
15mm on S35 is great. I thought this would be too wide and wished IRIX made a 25 or 35 but actually to compliment the existing 45 they sell this 15 is a good match feeling wide but not super distorted wide. Magnetic hoods are cool, but not so much if you are filming metalworking - all the dust just sits on those magnets. Minor quibble but the lens is great!
