Excellent affordable cine lens that I?m using on a full frame beast of a camera! Sigma fp!!

5 out of 5 stars
Excellent for detail shots. It works as a telephoto lens but focus pull is way to fine beyond a couple of feet away from subject to really rack focus, so I would not recommend using this as a telephoto unless you can fix focus. No complaints as a macro lens though.

Robert Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 15mm T2.6 (Feet): May be my new favorite lens!
5 out of 5 stars
Feels solid, but isn't overly heavy. Image quality is great and distortion is reasonable. I shoot it both full frame and S35 and it handles both well. As others have said, it's true that the lens cap is wonky. Apparently they have a fixed one that you can order separately and hopefully that's what will ship with new copies of the lens. I use it via an adapter and did have a little trouble finding a friendly one. Fotodiox PL-EF did NOT work. I eventually went with some no-names on eBay that did.

I use this coupled with my BMPCC 6K Pro. Like most cinema lenses, this is massive. Be prepared for a workout if you are going handheld. Gearing is very smooth, although a bit stiff if not using a focus wheel. I own all of the cinema lenses and two of the three have decent magnetic hoods, while one does not appear to be as strong. This doesn't affect me as I utilize a matte box. Like most have stated, the lense cover is complete garbage. Pops off for no apparent reason.
Carlos Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): Beautiful lens that produces great images.
5 out of 5 stars
I shoot surgical/medical and thus needed that reach (compared to the Rokinon 100mm macro I was using before) in order to remain non-invasive to a health care professional's space. I also wanted a cine version of a macro so this was perfect and really there is no other option other than another 100mm macro cine lens. The images coming from my Fuji X-T3 with this lens are fantastic (rigged as shown using an EF to X-mount adapter). Feels like a solid lens. Not a fan of the magnetic hood but I use a matte box so no biggie. Lens cap and mount cover do suck, they feel like they could break from a drop. Focus ring is smooth but the iris ring is much looser in comparison, I wish they had the same tension.

Van Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 45mm T1.5 (Feet): True Cine Lens with unbeatable price
5 out of 5 stars
First of all, this is a sharp lens with all the features I look for in a cine prime - no noticeable focus breathing, nice long throw, and a solid build. The size is also nice - it's quite a bit smaller than my Sony primes or than other primes in the same price range. Once you factor in full frame coverage, you'd be spending an extra $5000 at least to match the quality in any other cine l

I got the 15mm and the 45mm. There Great!!!
Tony Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): Great Quality & Value
5 out of 5 stars
I purchased the IRIX 15mm, 45mm, and 150mm as a set. The image quality is sharp and excellent, the focus and t-stop rings work smoothly and quietly, and the build quality is first class and aesthetically beautiful. I particularly like the water sealing most other brand lenses in this price range do not have. Focus breathing varies between the lenses but minimally and I'm quite happy with them. As other reviewers have mentioned, the curved lens cap is the only disadvantage, preventing positioning any lens face down on a surface with the lens cap on, but that's a minor issue against the superb overall package these lenses provide.
Matthew Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): gorgeous Macro upgrade
5 out of 5 stars
Switching to the IRIX 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 Cine Lens from the Canon 100mm macro photo lens significantly enhanced my macro videography capabilities. The added 50mm focal length allows for closer, more detailed shots and a comfortable working distance, ideal for intricate scenes. This lens incorporates cinema-grade features, including a T3.0 aperture for superb performance in various lighting conditions, and precise control over focus and aperture, elevating the cinematic quality of your footage. The lens's build is both durable and weather-sealed, ready for any shooting environment. Its sharpness is a standout feature, delivering crystal-clear images that showcase the finest details of your subject. This sharpness, alongside the extended focal length and cinema functionality, makes the IRIX 150mm a significant upgrade for filmmakers seeking to advance their macro cinematography. It's a powerful tool that combines creativity, control, and quality, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to step up their macro video production.
Jorge Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 45mm T1.5 (Feet): Solid; sharp; and affordable!!
5 out of 5 stars
I've been renting cine lenses for years for some of our bigger projects but never pulled the trigger on getting one. I mean, I have the Sigma 18-35 Art (photo) lens and I just can't justify spending 4K on the cine version. But this lens comes at a great price (paid $1,200) which in early 2020, happens to be cheaper than the Xeen primes. Not to mention Canon, Sigma, Zeiss CPs and the rest. -- I've shot a few test shots and the 45 looks very sharp and smooth with no noticeable CA. Focus throw is 180 and the overall feel is solid! - Can't wait for Irix to come out with a couple of more primes.

AMMON E. Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 45mm T1.5 (Feet): Very good lens for the price
5 out of 5 stars
This is a very well built lens, very sharp, good bokeh, good cine features
Martin Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 15mm T2.6 (Feet): Nice little cine prime
5 out of 5 stars
Quality optics and build. Light for a cine prime, and easy to use. Works well on our RED Komodo. Smooth focus and aperture rings. The magnetic filter system is quick and easy. Also have the IRIX 30mm Cine T1.5. We tested both lenses and found no issues. The blue infinity marking really is at infinity and the other markings appear to be accurate as well. The only complaint is the rounded lens cap that comes with the lens. We were told that IRIX is going to offer the better, flat cap they provide with their 30mm T1.5 for this and older models. Kudos to them for that improvement. Overall, this is a surprisingly good cine prime series considering the low price.

Matthew Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 15mm T2.6 (Feet): car interior beast!
5 out of 5 stars
The IRIX 15mm T2.6 Cine is my go-to for shooting in tight spaces, like car interiors. Its wide-angle capability allows for capturing extensive detail in confined areas, making it ideal for automotive shoots. The T2.6 aperture ensures excellent performance in low-light conditions, crucial for maintaining quality inside vehicles. Balancing impressively on gimbal rigs, it proves to be a versatile workhorse, capable of handling dynamic shots with stability and clarity. Its durable build adds to its reliability, making it a trustworthy choice for demanding environments. In short, the IRIX 15mm T2.6 combines wide-angle versatility, low-light proficiency, and rugged durability, standing out as an essential lens for producing high-quality, creative shots in limited spaces. It’s a valuable asset for any video project requiring sharp and expansive visuals in compact settings.
Lester Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): Would buy again

Beautiful image and solid construction, looks great on set of a production
montreuil Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 21mm T1.5 (Feet): really impressed
5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this lens for my sony FX9 and I shoot with the raw extension. I mostly use the 28/135 F4 sony cine zoom lens. I needed something a bit more wide with a fastest aperture. My dream came true. this lens is excellent, extremely sharp and delivered stunning results. I have tried also the sony 16/35 GM master f2.8.. . but sometimes a real cine lens is better when autofocus(es) has their limitations and when manual focus is required for creativity. highly recommended
Van Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): Great macro lens, can't beat the price
5 out of 5 stars
I've been shooting with this lens on my RED Helium, but I also use it for stills with my A7III. The focus throw is smooth and long, and there is little breathing between short distances or between long distances (although, as expected, if you pull from a couple inches away to infinity, there is a transition where it breathes heavily). It feels well made and the images are very sharp.
Anderson M. Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 15mm T2.6 (Feet): Beautiful lenses
5 out of 5 stars
A beautiful lens, heavy, well structured and a clean and well detailed image.

Jeffrey Sony FX9 Lenses Irix Cine 45mm T1.5 (Feet): Weighted
4 out of 5 stars
First of all, I'm not the best with cinema lenses and I'm not able to really quantify how good it is. Two things came to mind when I opened it. The sheer weight. It's a heavy lens. That "run&gun" shooting is next to impossible. The build quality. This lens is sturdy. Beautiful to look at if you are into aesthetics. From the rubber rings to the magnetic hood (which is genius) top tier. I've had the lens for about a week and the little I've shot, the quality is definitely worth the price. Roughly $1,200.. Inexpensive. Definitely recommend it.

FAQ Lenses for Sony FX9

Is the FX9 better than the FS7?

The Sony FS7 sensor (24.0mm x 12.7mm) is significantly smaller than the FX9's new large sensor (35.7mm x 18.8mm) that covers more than twice the surface area and makes for a wider angle of view and shallower depth of field. This gives you more fall off in unfocused areas and creates a more 'cinematic' look overall.

What year did the FX9 come out?

The FX9 will be available towards the end of 2019 and on display at the Sony stand (A10, Hall 13) at IBC 2019 September 13th- 17th.

What is the Sony FX9 used for?

Whether you're shooting documentaries, events, reality TV, education, or corporate productions, the PXW-FX9 XDCAM 6K Full-Frame Camera System from Sony has you covered with its powerful and flexible 4K interchangeable lens camera system.

What is the difference between the FS7 and the FX9?

Introducing the FX9: Right off the bat, the FX9 is following suit with the FS7. But will it overshadow the success of the FS7 for future video shoots? Unlike the FS7, the FX9 shoots full-frame with a 6K sensor and has, what some say, the best facial-focus and most accurate, lifelike colors you can lay your eyes on.
