Cine Lenses for Panasonic GH5S

Cine lenses are a type of lens designed explicitly for videography and filmmaking. While they can also be used for photography, they are not as commonly used for this purpose. Cinema lenses are distinguished from regular camera lenses by their construction and features. They typically have a longer focus throw, which allows for more precise focusing, and a de-clicked aperture, which enables smoother transitions between different aperture settings. A Cine lens also typically have a more robust build quality, making them better suited for heavy use. While cine lenses can be used for photography, they are not necessarily the best option for every situation.

Cine lenses are an essential tool for filmmakers and video producers, providing superior image quality and precise control over focus and depth of field. Lester Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): Great image for detail shots
5 out of 5 stars
Excellent for detail shots. It works as a telephoto lens but focus pull is way to fine beyond a couple of feet away from subject to really rack focus, so I would not recommend using this as a telephoto unless you can fix focus. No complaints as a macro lens though.

Dennis Irix Cine 30mm T1.5 (Feet): Quality and performance!
5 out of 5 stars
I've had many lenses over the years, I often researched what others liked or believed what YouTube videos said, but this time I decided to make a choice and decide for myself if this lens was for me. From the moment I opened the box of the Irix 30mm T1.5 RF version, I knew I had made the right choice. The weight of the lens, the position of the gears and the out of the box colors paired with my Red Komodo left me speechless. The lens handles light just the way I've been looking for, and the look the lens adds to the already amazing image quality and color accuracy of R3D made this lens for me a winner. I highly recommend this lens, especially if you want a true cinema lens and desire quality and performance at an outstanding price point. Will definitely purchase more from this brand in the future.

What more could you ask for in a lens. I was very skeptical at first as I work in film production and we rent lenses all the time. I wanted something that I could use for my red that could live on the camera for run and gun doc work. This lens has blown me away in the short two days I've used it. It is very sharp and has this unique look to that reminds me of having a pro mist filter on it. The build is heavy and strong and feels like a mini tank. I've gambled with lenses for 5 years and am very happy with this purchase. I will be buying more. Thanks Irix!!!!!!! You guys rule.
John Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): Fantastic Cinema Macro Lens
5 out of 5 stars
For the price, this lens rocks! If it were three times the price it would still rock! There's plenty of YouTube video reviews of technical specs, but creatively, I found that this lens gave me a cinematic (subjective, I know), shallow depth of field with crisp focus. Definitely need a focus-puller and stability, but even without the latter, you can pull off some interesting shots. This will be a holy grail lens for product filmmakers, but it's extremely capable of pulling off some narrative shots. Some test footage: https://vimeo.com/509993097
Grant Irix Cine 15mm T2.6 (Feet): Cute little nugget

15mm on S35 is great. I thought this would be too wide and wished IRIX made a 25 or 35 but actually to compliment the existing 45 they sell this 15 is a good match feeling wide but not super distorted wide. Magnetic hoods are cool, but not so much if you are filming metalworking - all the dust just sits on those magnets. Minor quibble but the lens is great!

I needed a lightweight, cinema style macro lens for my motion control rig. This works perfectly. At the right price. Very happy

First of all, I'm not the best with cinema lenses and I'm not able to really quantify how good it is. Two things came to mind when I opened it. The sheer weight. It's a heavy lens. That "run&gun" shooting is next to impossible. The build quality. This lens is sturdy. Beautiful to look at if you are into aesthetics. From the rubber rings to the magnetic hood (which is genius) top tier. I've had the lens for about a week and the little I've shot, the quality is definitely worth the price. Roughly $1,200.. Inexpensive. Definitely recommend it.

Great neutral image which allows you to create the look that you want. Would like for Irix to fill out their set though. They have a limited selection of cinema glass. What a shame.

Overall great lens. The only bad thing is the lens cap. Make sure you buy a normal lens cap and ditch this rounded magnetic mess. Image quality is clean and sharp without being clinical looking.

DETELN Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): Great lens.

I got this lens for high end table top shoots and am very pleased with the quality and the build of the lens. Something I wold normally expect from significantly more expensive cine-macro lenses. It's a bargen at that price point. The PL mount is a snug fit on my RED DRAGON and the rounded lens cap is a bit of a fail design since you can't put the lens on its front the way you normally park lens that you don't want to roll of your desk. But that's the only downside of it and it didn't affect the image waltet in any way.
Van Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): Great macro lens, can't beat the price

I've been shooting with this lens on my RED Helium, but I also use it for stills with my A7III. The focus throw is smooth and long, and there is little breathing between short distances or between long distances (although, as expected, if you pull from a couple inches away to infinity, there is a transition where it breathes heavily). It feels well made and the images are very sharp.
Neill Irix Cine 21mm T1.5 (Feet): Our preferred lens series
5 out of 5 stars
In over 40 years of industrial and feature film making, the Irix primes are my favorite series of prime lenses, favored over the big name lenses that cost 4-5x. They are fast, sharp, have very natural-looking out-of-focus highlights, and the sealing is a bonus for those like us, who shoot a lot of exteriors. Hopefully Irix will soon offer something in the 65mm-85mm range so we can relegate our current short telephoto to the B camera lens set.
Matthew Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 (Feet): workhorse of a cine Macro
5 out of 5 stars
The IRIX 150mm is an excellent choice for those looking to capture highly detailed, true-to-life close-ups. Its magnification ratio means you can get incredibly close to your subjects, rendering them in life-size on the screen, which is perfect for both professional and creative projects. The T3.0 aperture ensures that you have flexibility with light, working well in both bright outdoor settings and more controlled indoor environments. This lens is built to last, with a robust, weather-sealed construction that can handle a variety of shooting conditions without breaking a sweat. The focus and aperture adjustments are smooth and precise, which is crucial for making those critical, on-the-fly changes during a shoot. Image quality is where this lens truly shines, delivering sharp, clear visuals with beautiful background blur that helps your subject stand out. It's equipped with features like geared rings that are compatible with follow-focus systems, making it an excellent fit for professional video production. While it's a bit heavier and requires manual focus, the quality and versatility it offers make it a worthy addition to your kit. Overall, the IRIX is a solid investment for filmmakers and videographers seeking exceptional detail and build quality in their work.

It never stoped to amaze me the kind of build this lens has. Nice big and a little on the heavy size. I will compromise well build for fragility, I may also add this has a very nice glass. Overall very satisfied with the lens.

WILLIAM D. Irix Cine 45mm T1.5 (Feet): My favorite lens
5 out of 5 stars
I love the lens. It is beautifully crafted and sturdy. The weight of the lens will take a bit of getting used to so I don't suggest using it without mentally preparing for the weight or having a stand if you don't want to hold it. There is no image stabilization but that is to be expected; however, the smooth focus and aperture are amazing. They allow for a really really precise image whether photo or video. This is my favorite lens.

FAQ Panasonic Lumix GH5S Mirrorless Camera

Is GH5S better than GH5?

The biggest difference between them is the sensor; the GH5 II has a 20.3 MP sensor while the GH5s has a multi-aspect 10.2 MP sensor that's optimized for low light. If you mainly shoot video, and you want better low-light performance, you can't go wrong with the GH5s.

Is Panasonic GH5S Netflix approved?

The GH5S comes up a bit short with respect to dynamic range as well, which is why the camera is not Netflix-approved like its younger sibling the BGH1, though endowed with the same micro four thirds sensor.

Is the GH5S good for photography?

The GH5 was, and is, a fantastic camera for video, but the Panasonic GH5S goes above and beyond. Its 10MP resolution is a bit low for photos, but it's great for video. The GH5S offers better video quality, more recording options, and just tons of advanced video features.

Is the GH5S good for video?

The Panasonic LUMIX GH5s is excellent for studio video. It records both 4k and Cinema 4k at up to 60p. It can also record 10-bit 4:2:2 video internally at frame rates up to 30p, allowing you to take full advantage of the sensor's dynamic range.
